Got a question, found a bug, or just want to argue about a verse? We'd love to hear from you. Most of the common questions are below. For anything else, write us directly.

Frequently asked

I missed yesterday's reading. Can I see it?

Yes. Open the Archive tab from the top of the home screen, and you'll see every prior reading — Torah and Talmud both. Tap any one to open it in full, with commentary, question, and joke included.

Why is the Hebrew not appearing for some verses?

We curate a handful of highlight verses for each parasha and daf rather than embedding the entire portion. For the full text, tap "Read the full text on Sefaria" inside the expanded portion. Sefaria is a free, well-respected Jewish text archive.

The app says one thing on Wednesday and another on Thursday — is the daf wrong?

The daily daf advances every day on the standard Daf Yomi cycle (a seven-and-a-half-year journey through the Babylonian Talmud). The Torah parasha changes weekly, traditionally read on Shabbat. We follow the standard calendar — if something looks off, please write us with the date and we'll check.

Where are the polls' results coming from?

From other people who use the app. Each device gets an anonymous identifier (no account, no email) so we can count votes once per device. We don't know who you are or what you voted on history; we just keep a running tally per question.

Can I change which generation's joke I see?

Yes — open Settings (the gear in the top-right of the home screen) and choose your generation: Alpha, Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X, or Boomer. Every reading has a joke for each.

Does the app collect my data?

Almost none. We don't ask for an email, a name, a phone number, or any personal information. We do store a random identifier on your device so polls work and your preferences persist between launches. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

I tapped a rabbi's name and learned they were Rashi's grandson. Where do those bios come from?

From traditional Jewish sources, biographical references, and the editor's reading. We try to keep them historically accurate and respectful. If you spot an error, please write us — we'd rather be corrected than wrong.

Will the app work in airplane mode?

The current day's reading and your archive are available offline. Submitting a poll vote and seeing the latest tallies require an internet connection. Sefaria deep-links also need the internet (they open in your browser).

I'm not getting daily reading reminders.

Open Settings inside the app and confirm reminders are turned on. Then check your iOS Settings → Notifications → L'chaim and make sure notifications are allowed. If both are on and you still don't see them, try toggling them off and on once, or write us.

Can I suggest a topic, a question, or a joke?

Please. We read every email. Especially the joke suggestions — there is no such thing as too many.
